Guastaferro Primum Taurasi 2003

Powerful, masculine and austere. An unraveling robust, steely stamina.

Dark, impenetrable garnet red with scarlet reflections.

Intense aromas that continue to evolve in the glass from cooked plum and blackberry jam to cinnamon, cocoa and liquorice to old leather and cedar with a slight balsamic veil and hints of vanilla and violets.

Full bodied with bold tannins and medium plus acidity, 15 years in the bottle and still a long road ahead, reoccurring notes of mature fruit and a long, cinnamon finish.

A serious wine that merits reflection. This is an Aglianico clearly made with criteria and a true Taurasi.

Food pairings: Wellington steak, Beef stew, T-bone steak and potatoes, aged cheeses with fruit compote
