It has been a dream of mine for a long time to start a wine club. With the help of friends and a pinch of good luck, I have found the opportunity to do just that by creating a cultural association in Italy. In the next few weeks I will be adding a page to my site in Italian dedicated to the associations activities, however I wanted to give my English speaking readers a chance to find out what it’s all about. It is still in early stages, but every great journey starts with the first step.
If you would like to know how you can become involved and support the association, please contact me directly.

AN EXPLORATION OF WINE, ART AND CULTURE
As an exploration of this relationship, Vinthropology offers experiences which engage the senses and illuminate this connection.
Art and culture can create a conceptual and perceptive framework through which the art of wine becomes a chance to know the world, and oneself, more intimately. At the same time, an attentive and curious approach to wine tasting can give meaningful value to the use of our senses and increase one’s openness to perceive the world beyond the glass.

Vinthropology is born from a passion for wine and a desire to understand, or better, get closer to understanding its enchanting enigma. In as much as wine can tell the story of a season, a territory, a tradition and a people, it is also elusive, resisting any absolute definition and inviting you to look deeper.

It’s born from a passion for art and its power to provide solace, at the same time giving you the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.

It’s born from a love for the flavours of life and a desire to taste even the most subtle expressions of harmony found in nature.

It’s born from an admiration for human history which teaches us who we are and what we’re capable of.

Above all, it’s born from a desire to share this passion with you and create a sense of connection to the world we live in.
At the heart of the relationship between wine, art and culture is perception. We use our senses every day, everywhere we go, but it is easy to forget it’s value in colouring our lives. It is through the senses and perception that we come to know the world, and ourselves, in a process where the external and internal become intimately entwined. By paying close attention to our senses we can become more eloquent and articulate about what we feel drinking a glass of wine, looking at a work of art, reading a line of poetry, or discovering a piece of history.

Our aim is to create a context, a sensory journey, to guide and grow this kind of sensibility. The pleasure of having a glass of wine in good company can become much more. It can be an immersion in a multi-sensory experience, it can stimulate reflection and research, it can tell a story which we are a part of, it can make us wonder.
Vinthropology is for the curious. It is for the novice, the enthusiast and the expert alike. It is for those who see learning as a lifelong journey. It is for those who believe that to perceive is to know, to understand and to love.

Come with us on this adventure!
A taste of some future events:

This is not only a great post Danell full of information, it is also a brilliant concept. I am extremely excited by it and very excited FOR you. I really wish I lived nearby! I see a couple of images, themes, events I have a small connection with, not that I seek acclamation but which shows the level of our influence on each other and our friendship. I am staggered there are no other comments yet, we need to find ways to get your local community and potential members reading you. Maybe it’s a language issue, so possibly you should now post everything in Italian and market like crazy? I can still read you through Google Translate. I have some links etc to books and articles that would enhance or add to what you have here but I don’t want to bombard you. The Organisation stuff I gave you is maybe enough for now, but I know that what I’ve got will stimulate further conversation especially towards Raman Spectroscopy and wine 😂😂

Thank you, as always, Brian. This post is actually the English translation of the newsletter I sent out to people in Italy interested in the project. Haven’t heard much back yet, so maybe I really do have a problem with marketing! In fact, the next weeks will be about creating a page on my blog for Italian speakers and marketing in every way possible. Our talk blew me away and I’ll be working on the points you have given me as well. Send me everything you’ve got, I’ll get through it eventually! 🤣 speaking of the influence we have had on each other respectively, I’ve finished your book and… I’m speechless and touched! I’ll be sending an email shortly, but suffice to say, for now, that the feeling is mutual. Thank you so much for your support and challenges, Vinthropology would not be the same without them! 🥂
