Per festeggiare tutti insieme la partenza del nostro viaggio tra vino, arte e culture, ci siamo organizzando una festa di inaugurazione presso la sede legale dell’associazione, che si terrà a Eboli il 31 luglio alle ore 20. L’evento sarà all’aperto nel giardino e in piena sicurezza.
Tema della serata è “alla cieca”, un’esplorazione su come si può vedere senza guardare e osservare senza pregiudizi o preconcetti. Si tratta di una degustazione, appunto, alla cieca ovvero senza alcuna informazione sul vino, per allenare i sensi e per sentire maggiore fiducia in se stessi e nelle sensazioni provate. La degustazione è abbinata non solo a piccoli assaggi, ma anche all’arte di Cindi Zimmerman e ai suoi ritratti fatti alla cieca.
Usando una tecnica che si chiama “Blind Contour Drawing”, l’artista americana realizza ritratti particolarmente unici, disegnando con una sola linea continua senza mai osservare il disegno in corso, ma piuttosto osservando attentamente il soggetto. È un processo sia creativo sia meditativo, che abbraccia gli imprevisti, le imperfezioni e l’importanza di essere presenti nel momento.
Un approccio che è perfettamente in linea con la degustazione di un vino e il nostro scopo di esplorare, riflettere e condividere. Per quanti desiderino essere immersi totalmente nell’esperienza, ci sarà un premio se indovineranno il vino, o se ci si avvicineranno il più possibile, e una tavola fornita di carta e penne per fare il proprio disegno “alla cieca”.

Wow, you surely have made fantastic progress Danell, fame and fortune awaits you! The concept of blind drawings linked to experiencing wine blind is very clever. A perfect link between wine and art. The garden party sounds brilliant, it’s the sort of thing I would hop on a plane to attend, perhaps without telling you, except for Covid and hip recovery! 👏👏👏👏

I understand. Recover is really painful, mobility is improving but I have swelling, pain down the IT band and groin. Strong painkillers not touching it! I have a physio appointment and stitches out on Tuesday so I need to have a good “exploration”!

I remember it took my boyfriend a while to get back on his feet and feel comfortable walking. That day will come! Be patient and take care of yourself.

Eboli! The name sent me to look through my books to see if I still had my Penguin copy of “Christ Stopped at Eboli” and I have, so next week I shall start to re-read this marvellous story by Carlo Levi and see if it still has the power to fascinate that it did when I first read it. (It will be quite a change from my current read of Carl Hiassen’s brilliant satire “Squeeze Me”.

That’s right! Christ stopped at Eboli, so funny you know about the book. I’ve never actually read it but maybe I should. It will give me a break from reading about wine 😅🥂

I can recommend it even though I seem to remember it was a wee bit patronising about the peasants in Italy at the time, but then we shouldn’t judge people for behaving differently in different periods of time. Things were very different then.

Very true! One thing I’ve learned from living in Italy is that they are very particular about how one should act in public, but also very warm and human at the same time. It’s an interesting contrast!
